Digital Arts Group at The Courtyard

MAP has been running a regular after-schools group at the Courtyard in Bicester, helping young people develop new digital arts skills and lead their own creative projects.

We've been really impressed by everyone's enthusiasm and the group have got stuck into photography, graphic design, studio recording, animation and film-making. The young people, aged 11 - 14, are working towards their Bronze Arts Awards.

You can hear Chloe and Katie's track 'My Smile', which was recorded for a Children In Need performance, on the Courtyard's Community Albums page.

Finished sculpture!

Still not sure what to call him, but he's looking awesome. Finishing touches/stencil artwork added by young people at the Courtyard this evening. Images by Andrew Fleming. A big thanks to all young people and staff involved in the project, which was funded by OCC Youth Support Services and Cherwell District Council.

What's that coming over the hill...?

Great day on the sculpture project. Lots of spraying and completing the main structure. Well done to Will, Kim, Issac and Zoe. More decoration tomorrow and official launch at the Courtyard Youth Arts Centre on Monday.

The sculpture will also feature in Oxfordshire Art Weeks this year - watch this space for details.

Big noisy sculpture

First day of new project. We're working with artist Giles Walker, buidling a massive sculpture from scrap. We made good progress today, cleaning up some of the car parts and welding the frame...
