Winslow Style Poem

A a bit of Pat Winslow style poetry here by the Students at MAP. With illustrations inspired by it. The first one is by Esme and Marianna.

The Poem
I left a suitcase in a house, on the moon.
Dust from our bedroon grasped my sister's eyes.
I stood chest-high beside a cardboard spacesuit.
If he was looking over sleeping boots there mother would arrive in a parachute.

I remember that I cannot shrink into the room.
In a million years I swear that I will still remember.
In him I know that I can trust.
Although never like him, I am certain to remember.
Remember me honestly remember me.
Couldn’t this priest hear me?
It was him after all, that said it, not me.
Didn’t you send out the true idea among the people?

MAP Synchronisity

We're very busy in Oxford at the moment, with new students starting the project.
So not a long post today. Just two images by two different student that seem to fit together without planning to.

The First is a collage by a new student Esme. The second is a drawing by regular mapper Katy.

Famous People We Have Met.

When Katy was only a small child she met David Bowie. But so much fonder is her memory of meeting snake man and Legend Mark O'Shea (she wore an Aconda like a scarf).

Bea claims that she met Elvis. She says he was fun, that they went to Ireland and did an Irish Jig......hmmmmmm(not sure about that).

Ezme's Gran and Grandad sold their house in Rye (near Brighton) to Vic Reeves (however he has since moved out).

It's all pretty exciting really. Let us know who you've met.

Starting at MAP by Katy.

katy's advice about starting the MAP project.

"Its easy to give up and get mad when you don't know anyone. But if you simle and relax, you'll find its not as scary and frustrating as you first thought!" Katy xxx

Maps Students Account Of A Day Out.....

On Tuesday the 15th, Oxford MAP students gathered together accompanied with fabulous staff members, to an outing at the MOMA Open Exhibition in the Oxford city centre.
We all traveled as one group to the exhibition via the number 1 bus.

On arrival we took a group photo outside of the building (much to the annoyance of some of the students! I must admit that i was reluctant myself, however a good percentage of our group were happy to pose. :)

As i am but one member of the group, my views may be dismissed by my fellow students, however i have spoken to a couple of my peers and i feel fairly confident to include them safely in my thoughts, without being incorrect.

My teacher asked me what I, and indeed the whole class liked most, i think that i can speak on behalf of all the members in my class when i say that the most enjoyable experience that we shared together at the museum, was being able to draw inspiration from all of the wonderful pieces of artwork on display. I think that each and every one of us came away today, with some interesting new ideas for projects of our own. My favourite piece of work was called 'Open up your candy world' by Alan Cooke. It looked like the world in fragments. It was very interesting and beautiful. It made me think of us. People using up the resources and the world giving in and breaking up.

To sum this account up, I'd say that the mutual feeling between my peers and i, is that we had a lovely day out.
